Objective: To investigate the relationship between histological grade and prognosis of invasive ductal breast cancer. METHODS: Totally 86 invasive ductal carcinomas of the breast with a history of more than five years were classified histologically according to duct formation, nuclear atypia and mitotic phases. Results: The 5-year survival rates of grade Ⅰ (26 cases), grade Ⅱ (42 cases) and grade Ⅲ (18 cases) in invasive ductal carcinoma were 80 8% (21 cases) and 57 1% (24 cases) and 444% (8 cases). There was significant difference between Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅰ, Ⅲ (P <0.05). Conclusion: In invasive ductal carcinoma, histological grade is a good prognostic indicator; combined with the status of axillary lymph nodes, the prognosis is more meaningful.
