10月1日晚8时23分,香港南丫岛榕树湾附近海面发生两船相撞事故。香港电灯集团有限公司一艘接载员工及家属出海观赏烟花的船,与一艘港九小轮控股有限公司的船相撞,渡轮迅速倾斜下沉,船上当时有124人,小拖轮上有近100人。事故共造成39人遇难,100余人受伤。事故发生18分钟后,21艘搜救船、2架直升机、20多辆救护车立即赶到现场救援。
At 823 p.m. on 1 October, two ships collided with each other on the sea near Yung Shue Wan in Lamma Island, Hong Kong.
