造型生动的门墩石雕刻门墩石置于门框下起支撑加固作用,种类较多,一般由两部分组成,上部属装饰,有动物、人物、圆鼓、方体等;下部为长方体墩石,在中间部位上面有横槽与海窝,侧面有竖槽,用来装置门与门槛。门墩石除了实用以外,还起到装饰大门的作用,彰显了家庭地位。古人认为其还可辟邪。关中民俗艺术博物院藏有一批门墩石,现选6件(套)元明时期有纪年款的门墩石介绍如下:
