钢轨接头病害是世界各国铁路线路的主要病害之一,我国尤为突出。试验表明,当低接头1.53mm,列车运行速度102km/h时,平轨前比平轨后振动能量高7~8倍;低接头0.5mm,接头增加冲击力20~25t。根据现场调查,有缝线路区段,每年用于整治接头病害用工数,约占线路维修养护总工数的60~70%,一旦形成了接头病害道碴溜坍,线路方向不良,高低、水平都难以保持,轨枕和扣件损坏,影响线路质量和运输安全,缩短轮轨使用寿命,影响旅客舒适度。由此可见,及时平直钢轨低接头和钢轨低洼不仅可以减少维修养护工作量,延长轮、轨,机车车辆和线路设备的使用寿命,
