National colleges and universities are the institutions of higher learning established by the party and the state to cultivate ethnic minority cadres and solve ethnic issues with their own distinctive characteristics. Most of our national institutions of higher learning were founded in the 1950s. Their predecessors can be traced back to the National Institute founded in Yan’an in 1941.
