目前,我国铁路运输正在向高速、重载、高科技方向发展,需要大力引进新技术、新设备。全路340万职工正面临着一个科教兴路,抓住机遇,迎接新的挑战,实现铁路现代化的重要课题。因此,迫切需要提高铁路职工的素质,以适应新时期的要求,其重要途径是抓好职工教育,它能直接有效地提高劳动者及工作人员的科技知识与业务水平,从而直接提高经济效益与工作效率。这是关系到铁路兴衰的大事,其重要性与紧迫性是不言而喻的。
