我在《辞书研究》1980年第二期中写了《一座语言的丰碑》一文,介绍《法语宝库》这部尚在编纂中的世界罕见的大型语文词典。现在挑选其中 DICTIONNAIRE(词典)这一词目翻译出来,有两方面的用意,一是便于我们就这个词目和其它语文词典作比较,从而对于《法语宝库》有一个较为具体的概念;二是鉴于词典是本刊的研究对象,也便于我们从这一词目的释义和引例中借鉴一点东西。译者曾就此和几部大型的法语语文词典略作比较,结论是无论从编排、释义或引例来看,《法语宝库》均居首屈一指的地位。这里光举摘引名家的例句而言,《法语宝库》在这一词目中共收二十五例(其中五例为详尽的例句),而《大罗贝尔词典》不过收十六例,《利特雷词典》收十例,《大拉鲁斯法语词典》仅收三例。尤其难得的是,《法语宝库》的二十五例几乎无一重复现有大型语文词典的例句(只沿用了半句)。我甚至有这样的印象,《宝库》的编者是有意避开别人已用过的引例的。如果不是拥有无比丰富的材料,这如何能够做到?就凭这点也可以在一定程度上看出《法语宝库》的建树。为了避免篇幅臃肿,译者把一些对中自读者没有多少用处的内容(如引例的详细出处等)略去,我想这是不会影响对词条全貌的了解的。
I wrote a monument to a monument to language in the second issue of Dictionary Studies in 1980, introducing a large dictionary of Chinese rare in the world of codification, The Treasury of French. The choice of DICTIONNAIRE (dictionaries) is now translated, there are two aspects of the intention, one is easy for us to compare this term and other language dictionaries, which for the “French treasure house” has a more specific concept; second is In view of the fact that dictionaries are the objects of our study, it is also convenient for us to learn something from the paraphrase and citation of this term. The translator has compared this to several large French-language dictionaries, concluding that the “French treasure house” ranks second to none in the orchestration, interpretation or reference. For the quotation example quoted by the famous author, “French Treasury” includes 25 cases in this term (five of them are detailed examples), while “Great Robert Bell Dictionary” received 16 cases, “Lee Trey dictionary ”received ten cases,“ Laroz French Dictionary ”received only three cases. Particularly rare is that the 25 examples of the “French Treasurer” barely repeat the sentences of the existing large-scale Chinese dictionaries (only half the sentence used). I even had the impression that the editor of the “treasure house” deliberately avoided the quotes that others had already used. How can we do this if we do not have extremely rich materials? To this extent, we can also see how the “French treasure house” has been built. In order to avoid overspending, the translator omitted some of the content (such as the detailed source of the quotation, etc.) which is of little use to the reader, and I think this will not affect the whole picture of the entry.
