等离子弧焊接是在等离子弧切割技术的基础上发展起来的一种先进焊接工艺。一般电弧焊所产生的电弧也是一种等离子体,只是电弧区内的气体电离还不很充分,能量也不够集中,电弧的温度只能达到6000°K~8000°K 左右。在等离子弧焊接时,焊矩把电弧充分压缩,使等离子效应加剧,形成一个稳定的单向强射流热源,电弧的温度可达到16000°K~33000°K。因此,准确地说等离子弧焊接应称为“压缩电弧焊接”。
