盈江县为云南省近史鼠疫的严重流行地区之一。1945～1955年期间曾发生5448例鼠疫病人,死亡2979人。从黄胸鼠和小家鼠体分离出106株鼠疫菌。间隔29年后1984年,从自死黄胸鼠及其印鼠客蚤又检出鼠疫菌多株,证实鼠间鼠疫已经复燃。
Yingjiang County is one of the serious endemic areas of the plague in Yunnan Province. Between 1945 and 1955, 5448 plague patients and 2,979 deaths occurred. 106 strains of Yersinia pestis were isolated from Rattus flavipectus and Mus musculus. After an interval of 29 years in 1984, many plague strains were detected from the self-dead rodent and its passenger flea, confirming that the plague has been rekindled.
