In human organs, the liver is the most commonly affected organism for leprosy. Among the leprosy patients, the incidence of Australian antigens is high. AU (1) of leprosy patients was significantly higher than that of tuberculosis leprosy patients or controls. Lenka et al. Reported a mild but significant increase in serum glutamic-pyruvate aminotransferase (S.G.P.T) levels of lepromatous leprosy patients with AU (1) over the absence of AU (1) antigens, indicating chronic, non-icteric hepatitis. The purpose of this study was to understand the incidence of Australian antigens (AU [1]) in patients with leprosy, the extent of liver damage, and the relationship between the two.
