Anti-Y Virus Potato The American Academy of Agricultural Sciences ARS obtained the anti-PVY virus-resistant gene from the wild potato Solanum fauberosum in South America. The botanist combines the resistant leaves with the cultivated potato leaves and grows the fused cells into a potato with tissue culture technology. The potato containing the antiviral gene can be grown by conventional hybridization.
