Continuous passive motion (CPM) devices are currently used in the treatment of post-surgical articular surgery. It refers to the synovial joint within the normal range of motion, so that joints continue to passively maintain the state of motion. The authors designed a CPM device for temporomandibular joint to study the changes of condylar cartilage thickness in adult guinea pigs after application of the device. The experimental group was divided into three groups. The CPM device was used in the experimental group to make the animal open and close the mouth every 2 minutes in the range of normal mouth opening (12 mm). The CPM device was continued for 7 h each day for 5 days. Animals in control group 1 were only fixed on the CPM device without CPM exercise. Control 2 groups
