奈保尔的小说《半生》描述了多元文化背景下的世界,在这个世界里,性别关系错位;欧洲作为世界中心的地位被消解,而在这个大环境下生存的主人公也迷失了自己的文化身份。通过故事,奈保尔重构了后现代后殖民语境下第三世界的人面临的生存困境。
Naipaul’s novel Half-Life describes the world in a multicultural context in which gender relations are misplaced; the status of Europe as a center of the world is eliminated and the protagonists who survive in this environment are also lost in their cultural identity . Through the story, Naipaul reconstructs the predicament faced by the third-world people in the post-modern post-colonial context.
