不同民族由于各自具有不同的历史背景、生活哲理、道德观念、风俗习惯,因此相同的客观事物在不同民族的文化中意象不尽相同。翻译不仅是语言的转换,而且是文化的传递。本文试就汉英语中动物引起的文化意象和翻译两方面作些探讨,指出动物名词的翻译应根据文化意象的不同及译语的文化特征采取灵活的方法。
Different ethnic groups each have different historical backgrounds, philosophy of life, moral values, and customs. Therefore, the same objective things in different cultures have different images. Translation is not only a transformation of language, but also a transfer of culture. This paper attempts to explore the cultural images and translations caused by animals in both Chinese and English and points out that the translation of animal nouns should adopt a flexible approach based on the differences of cultural images and the cultural features of target language.
