陈三元,名深源,字订荪、敦荪,湖南益阳县衡龙桥河图洲砂塘冲人,1904年12月5日出生于一个穷苦的农民家庭。1919年考入益阳县箴言书院, 毕业时正值家乡大旱,粮食歉收,而当地恶霸地主陈云秋却乘机敲诈勒索,无故诬告三元的父亲为偷盗之徒,强迫他赔偿银洋。封建地主对农民的这种残酷压迫,三元看在眼里,恨在心头,心中埋下了仇恨的种子。
