体罚是一种以教育为目的,施加于犯有过错的学生身体之上使之感到疼痛,以纠正其错误行为的惩戒手段。美国的一些地区和学校通过立法或者学校政策授权教育者实施体罚,这有其宗教思想根源。美国也存在废除学校体罚的呼声。在允许体罚的地方,大都对如何进行体罚做出了一些较为明确的规定。法院通过对一些体罚诉讼案件的审理,确定了某些判断体罚的合理性或者过度的标准。过度体罚可能被判承担民事或者刑事责任。
Corporal punishment is a form of punishment that is painfully applied to the wrong student body to correct its wrongdoing for educational purposes. Some parts of the United States and schools have adopted their legislative or school policies to empower educators to practice corporal punishment, which has its roots in religious ideology. The United States also has the voice of abolishing corporal punishment in schools. Wherever corporal punishment is allowed, most of the more explicit provisions on how corporal punishment are taken. The court passed some cases of corporal punishment litigation to determine some of the judgments of corporal punishment of the rationality or excessive standards. Excessive corporal punishment may be sentenced to civil or criminal liability.
