大学英语教学大纲把基础阶段的英语教学重点放在语言基础上,重视培养语言能力和交际能力,把培养阅读能力放在首位,这就需要教材中的课文的选择体现教学大纲的精神。选择文学语篇(如小品文、传记、报道、小说、剧本和短篇故事等)作为课文是使教学达到大纲要求的一种很好的手段。这种文学语篇在外语教学中有以下四大优点:1.融“真实性”和“可靠性”为一体。英语文学语篇均出自英美人士之手,题材取自一般的日常生活,因而符合广大学生的兴趣。2.文学语篇是表现语言使用和介绍文化的理想材料。它反映了文化这一术语所包括的内容,如英美国家的风俗习惯以及符合这些风俗习惯的语言使用。3.文学语篇有自己特定

English literary texts are from the hands of Anglo-American people, the subject matter taken from the daily life, and thus in line with the interest of the majority of students. 2. Literary discourse is the ideal material for expressing language usage and introducing culture. It reflects the content of the term culture, such as the customs of Anglo-American countries and the use of languages that conform to these customs. 3. Literary discourse has its own specific
