In order to monitor the future and development of high-risk infants, 100 cases of high-risk infants admitted to hospital from March 1994 to May 1995 were evaluated for their development at 6 months and 1 year of age. The data were compared with that of normal children Statistically, the overall level of development of high-risk children lagged behind the normal children, the difference was significant. Among all the risk factors, the assessment of 1-year-old children with severe asphyxia with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy was slightly worse than 6 months. However, the developmental evaluation of both low-birth-weight and small-gestational age children, both 6 months and 1 year old, Are lower than normal children and other high-risk children. Data show that the development of high-risk children is a dynamic process of change, for the development of laggards should be repeated many times to track and follow-up.
