凡是经过琢玉大师陆子冈(亦作陆子刚)琢成的玉器,皆称“子冈玉”。陆子冈明朝苏州人,是一位“名闻朝野”和“与土大夫抗礼”的非凡人物。据说,万厉皇帝叫他琢一把玉壶,不准落“子冈”款,然而他却巧妙地把名子落在玉壶咀的里边,瞒过了皇帝。据明万历时举人文震享在《长物志》中记载,陆子冈大约生于十五世纪上半叶,最活跃的年代当在十五世纪下半叶,即明嘉靖、万历年间。据《苏州府志》载,“陆子冈,碾玉妙手,造水仙簪,玲珑奇巧,花茎细如毫发”。故宫博物院藏《青玉婴戏纹壶》,高12.5厘米,宽19.5厘米,壶上琢有儿童戏玩,是件真品。另有《青玉山水人物纹方盒》,盒盖呈弧形,上有“桃红含宿雨,柳绿带朝烟”两句五言诗,它同北京考古发现的《白
