90年代中期以来,全国农田每年因鼠害造成的经济损失达80亿元——100亿元。从今后的气候变化和农业生态环境的改变等诸因素综合分析,本世纪初我国农区鼠害会出现一个发生高峰,必须采取有效措施综合治理鼠害。在一般鼠害发生区,灭鼠至少要在一个乡或几个乡的范围内统一进行;在鼠害重灾区,灭鼠区域应扩展到几个县、几个地区甚至全省。实践证明,开展区域性灭鼠,能提高整体灭鼠效果,降低灭鼠成本,减少人、畜中毒事故,有助于灭鼠新技术的推广应用。对农民朋友而言,应合理安排作物茬口,早中晚作物品种应规模化和区域化种植;及
