Archaeological discoveries show that the Mongolian nation experienced four stages during the Middle Ages. The Ergun River forests, the Teng River, the untouched rivers, and the rise of Genghis Khan. The true Mongols emerged after Genghis Khan unified the Mongolian Plateau. Before the beginning of the thirteenth century, the Mongol ancestors were still in the primitive Mongol period. Based on the above four stages, the paper sorts out the archeological materials and reviews the Mongolian historical legends, the Turkic inscriptions and the official history, and then proves that the Turks nomadic tribes and the exile in the Mongolian Plateau are dominated by the two primitive Mongolian groups in the Greater Hinggan Mountains and Hulun Buir steppe tribes. The northern Khitan, Jurchen and even the Han farmers and herdsmen eventually formed a community of Mongolian nationalities.
