唐释玄应所撰《众经音义》(又名《一切经音义》,下文简称玄应音义)是现存最早的佛经音义著作,全书二十五卷,注释了从汉至唐四百多部佛经中约八千条词语,其释义往往上溯墳典,下稽方俗,既有所释佛经的点上的语料,又有各个点间的系聊线索,客观上反映了汉唐以来汉语词汇历时的动态的立体的演变概貌。本文试就玄应音义所释西域的一些名物词略作考释以就正于方家。
