The creation of revolutionary historical paintings was a very prosperous period in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. At that time, it was my first time painting that I was impressed by the access to the revolutionary historical paintings printed by many older artists. Dong Xiwen’s “Founding Ceremony”, Zhan Jianjun’s “Langya Five Heroes”, Hou Yimin’s “Liu Shaoqi at Anyuan,” Gao Hong’s “Eve of the Battle of the Settlement,” “Fighting in Northern Shaanxi,” He Comte’s “Before the Attack,” Cai Liang’s “Yan’an Torch” and later Chen Yifei’s “Ode to the Yellow River” and his “occupation of the presidential palace” in cooperation with Wei Jingshan.
