This article aims to explore how feminist writer Edith Wharton used rhetorically in this “innocence era” from the perspective of restrictive narrative in feminist narratology. By giving full play to the advantages of the restrictive narrative in the third-person narrative, Walton effectively infiltrated her creative intention in the text, especially the strong female consciousness she wanted to express.
