The World Tourism Organization recently announced that global tourism industry showed strong growth in 1996 and it is expected that this growth will be maintained till the turn of the century. Statistics released by the World Tourism Organization show that in 1996, the world’s tourist arrivals reached 592 million, an increase of 4.6% over 1995; tourism revenue was 423.1 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 7.6% over 1995.
