去年春夏之交,我在无锡参加一个全国性会议,散会后,要到常州去乘机返京。常州,我的故乡,算来别离已经58年了,仅在1953年参加北京市首次工业访问团到上海参观访问时曾在常州停留一天。那时,看到故态依旧的古城,房屋低矮,道路狭窄,与童年的印象差不多。而今,40余年又过去了,翻天覆地的变化,旧貌换新颜,使人难以辨认。到常州的第一件事,就是去看一看我出生和度过童年的地方。位于城中心偏北的天皇堂弄似乎正在翻建。我家的老园“未园”要改建为市少年宫,无法进入,只好绕道体育场来到烟城中学。说明来意后,穿过校园来到未园的后门。门宽不足1米,一侧墙上镶嵌着石刻一方,上刻江苏省文物保
