After the Beijing Asian Games, the Japanese sports community considered the Asian Games the biggest failure in the history of sports in Japan. Only four years later, Japan dropped from 58 gold medals in the Seoul Asian Games to 38 gold medals. The sports community in Japan has felt the situation is grim and is determined to reorganize the sports arena to meet the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. In order to reverse the decline, the Japan Sports Association and the Japan Olympic Committee held three joint meetings to study and analyze the reasons for the decline in the level of sports in Japan. On the one hand, they discussed with the sports grassroots units and athletes in China to find out the reasons for the situation. On the other hand, they dispatched delegations to China, South Korea, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the United States, Canada and Cuba to understand the preparations for the 92nd Olympic Games of first-line athletes in various countries.
