《东方杂志》是20世纪上半叶中国寿命最长的一份综合性刊物。经历了清末立宪直到第二次国共内战等多个历史时期,堪称那个时代的见证人。在中国出版史上与思想史领域地位卓著,独特的立场与思想文化品格使之成为很值得研究的文本材料。洪九来的博士论文《宽容与理性:〈东方杂志〉的公共舆论研究(1904-1932)》能对此复杂文本进行细致解读,是具有开创意义的。本文同时也从写作框架、文献收集、论证等方面就其论文所凸显的几点不足做了简要分析。
Oriental Magazine was the longest-standing comprehensive publication in China in the first half of the 20th century. After going through the constitutional period from the late Qing Dynasty to the multiple historical periods such as the Second Civil War, it is a witness of that era. In Chinese publishing history and history of intellectual history outstanding position, unique position and ideological and cultural qualities make it a very worthwhile study text material. Hong Jiu-lai’s doctoral dissertation “Tolerance and Rationality: Public Opinion Research (1904-1932)” can elaborate on this complex text and is therefore of pioneering significance. In the meantime, this article also briefly analyzes some shortcomings highlighted in his dissertation from the aspects of writing frame, literature collection and argumentation.
