On September 2, 2010, the Russian proton-M sent three “GLONASS” navigation satellites to space. Russia’s space agency said the launch aims to increase the number of orbiting satellites in the GLONASS system. As of September 1 this year, the total number of orbiting satellites in the system is 23, of which 21 are working normally and the other two are in standby mode. After this launch, the number of GLONASS orbiting satellites reached 26 for the first time in recent years. However, the target of having 24 working satellites can not yet be achieved because the newly launched satellites go through 45 days of on-orbit commissioning and two of them are put into service and the other one is reserved. According to the plan, the Russian space sector will be this year
