Researchers at the University of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Developmental Biological Clock Laboratory recently wrote in Cell that they found a photosensitive protein that controls sleep in the body. The article said the chemical, called a crypto chrome, plays a role in regulating the “ups and downs” of the body’s biological clock, along with other proteins. It is a molecular ring, which is a very important gear for the circadian body clock. The article said that if researchers can find a practical way to apply this finding, it may help prevent the air jets from flying
