东方红人民公社沙泙沱大队位于西安市南郊沙浮沱村的泾渭平原上。是一个半蔬菜、半粮食作物的生产队。有土地953亩,其中蔬菜占播种面积的35%。土地平坦,土壤为栗钙土,灌溉便利,全部土地都能用水车及渠水灌溉。该生产队经过总路线的宣传教育,在全民大跃进的鼓午下,由党支部直接领导栽培了玉米万斤试验田。由于某些栽培措施不当,因此亩产只收了“778斤另8两”。为了吸取经验与教训,并为59年再次栽培大面积的丰产田打下基础,特将失败原因总结于后:
