Objective To investigate the adverse effects of diesel exhaust particle on embryo development. Methods The pregnant rats were injected intraperitoneally with diesel vehicle exhaust particles collected from a busy traffic section at high dose of 7.4mg / (kg.d), low dose (4.4 / (kg.d)) and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) (23.8%) and intrauterine growth retardation (9.8%) in high-dose group were higher than those in control group. All of the deformity live fetus appeared in both high and low dose groups, The control group showed normal appearance of live fetus. The two experimental groups all had different degrees of histopathological damage, mainly manifested as trophoblast hyperplasia, syncytiotrophoblast formation, and hyperemia and inflammatory cell infiltration. Conclusion Diesel oil Vehicle exhaust particles can cause varying degrees of histopathological damage to the placenta, increased intrauterine growth retardation and appearance of malformations.
