西安美术学院建校于1949年,其前身是西北人民艺术学院二分部,1949年7月由山西临汾迁至西安南郊长安县兴国寺,成立西北军政大学艺术学院,贺龙元帅为首任校长。1960年定名西安美术学院。1994年学院整体迁至西安市含光路校区。现为国家美术学博士后科研流动站,国家博士、硕士、学士学位授权单位,陕西省重点建设的十所“有特色、高水平”大学之一。学院拥有艺术学理论、美术学、设计艺术学3个博士、硕士一级学科授权点,26个本科专业。设中国画、油画、版画、雕塑、工艺美术、
Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts was established in 1949. Its predecessor was the Second Division of the Art Institute of the Northwest People’s Government. In July 1949, it moved from Linfen in Shanxi Province to Xingguosi in Chang’an County in the southern suburbs of Xi’an. The Academy of Art of Northwest Military and Political University was established. Marshal He Long was the first principal. 1960 named Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. In 1994 the college moved to Xi’an Guangguang Campus.
