Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of p53 protein, nm23H1 protein, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and local tumor recurrence. Methods: The expressions of p53, nm23H1, EGFR and CEA in primary and recurrent foci of 20 colorectal cancers were detected by ABC immunohistochemistry. Results: The positive rate of p53 was significantly increased after relapse, and the expression of p53, EGFR and CEA were significantly increased. The positive rate and expression of nm23-H1 showed a decreasing trend. After tumor recurrence, the degree of tissue differentiation showed a decreasing trend. CONCLUSIONS: The biological behavior of recurrent colorectal cancer may deteriorate, and p53, nm23-H1, EGFR, and CEA may play an important role in local recurrence.
