The “Syllabus” requires candidates to be able to read and understand materials related to different themes such as biographies, stories, narratives, popular science essays, and knowledge about social and cultural history, with no more than 3% of the word rate. In recent years, the number of new words in the high-examination questions has only increased. The vocabulary barriers will often become “stumbling blocks” that the candidates understand. These “stumbling blocks” can be roughly divided into five categories: (1) The old words are new meanings, and the meanings of words that do not appear in the vocabulary are examined. (2) composite words, conversion words and derivatives, such as: cost-effective, shoplifting, heartbroken,
