Objective: To investigate the effect of ice in oral cavity on the reduction of oral ulcer caused by chemotherapy of leukemia. Methods: One hundred and seventy patients with leukemia without oral ulcer were selected and randomly divided into control group and treatment group. In the control group, only 0.9% saline mouthwash was given during the chemotherapy period. The treatment group was given regular oral bursts of oral liquid, and the ice was kept in the oral cavity. The other two groups of patients with the same methods of care to observe the leukemia patients during chemotherapy and oral ulcers after the occurrence of chemotherapy. Results: The incidence of grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ mouth ulcers (2.56%) in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group (11.96%), with statistical significance (P <0.05). Conclusions: While using mouthwash during the chemotherapy, oral cavity containing ice can reduce the severity of oral ulcer in chemotherapy patients with leukemia, which has some clinical significance.
