十一届三中全会以后,中国决定改革开放。新华社香港分社邀请我到内地访问。1978年12月23日,我第一次到内地。那个时候,要先从香港坐火车到罗湖,到罗湖后,从深圳坐火车到广州,再坐飞机到成都,用了一整天时间。我们是上午9点出发,辗转几个地方,晚上9点才到成都。从那一天的切身经历中,我体会到了内地交通条件需要改善。在到广州的火车上,我从广播里听到了邓小平的声音,
After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, China decided to reform and open up. Xinhua News Agency Hong Kong Branch invited me to visit the Mainland. On December 23, 1978, I went to the Mainland for the first time. At that time, it was necessary to take a train from Hong Kong to Luohu, then to Luohu, from Shenzhen to Guangzhou by train, and then to Chengdu by plane and spent a full day. We set off at 9:00 am and transferred several places to Chengdu until 9:00 in the evening. From my personal experience on that day, I realized that the traffic conditions in the Mainland need to be improved. On the train to Guangzhou, I heard Deng Xiaoping’s voice from the radio.
