(S8.1) In this paper, a case study in Seismic Diffraction Near a Gulf Coast Salt Dome Set of truncated oblique layers of diffraction waves. Analysis shows that the standard velocity analysis and interpretation in CDP stacking may highlight the diffracted energy. Such diffraction energy may be mistakenly interpreted as truncating the dip of the formation
