自八五年八月开始,每逢晴暖天气,湖北浠水县境内浠水河、巴水河、沈家河、洗马河中,常有二千多群众手操磁扒或手摇磁选机,从黄砂里淘取铁砂,日均产铁砂在五百吨以上,一个群众性的”淘铁热”自发地形成了。所产铁砂源源不断地运往南京和马鞍山两家钢厂。浠水县的诸条河流皆发源于大别山,河内黄砂资源极为丰富,静态砂约七亿吨,动态砂每年二至三千万吨,这些黄砂中含有大量优质铁砂,铁砂又是浠水的宝中之宝。据浠水县矿产公司实地调查,全县河流中表层单位黄砂平均含铁砂百分之二点二五,黄砂
