福州自行车总厂在激烈竞争中,面对企业处于严重亏损频临破产的状况,由于厂领导一班人团结进取,努力寻找市场,不断开发与改进产品,使企业走出了低谷赢得了一席之地。1994年年产自行车24万辆(产值5313万元,销售收入7331万元),税利438万元(其中利润105万元)分别比93年产量提高了60％、产值提高了66％。质量一直保持A级水平(轻工部四十项标准),这是该厂由建厂以来最好的年份。产量已超过了预定设计15万辆能力,职工收入也大有改善,年收入人均达7000元。
