北苑街道党委和办事处坚持以人为本,把造福百姓作为永恒的职责,致力于构筑“和谐北苑”。随着工业开发和城市扩张,大批农民离开了他们的“命根子”——土地。北苑街道党委和办事处把建立失地农民的利益保障机制放在突出位置。制订政策措施,提供经费补助,被征地农民养老保险和城乡居民大病医疗保险迅速推开。目前,全街道已有1． 1万被征地农民参加了养老保险,3.1万城乡居民参加了大病医疗保险,适保人员基本实现应保尽保。
