这是一种在藏族地区广为流传的娱乐用具。这一娱乐的形成和发展到现在还没有确切的资料记载,不敢妄下结论,但是只见到五百年前撰写的藏族历史书籍中称其为“赤”或“折”,是“男儿九种竞技”中的一种。其主要内容是原古人相互追逐和降伏凶猛野兽,还有人类步入阶级社会后统治者和被统治者之间的斗争等。这一娱乐项目具有悠久的历史。在卫藏地区称之为“王棋”或“围王棋”,后藏地区称为“虎羊争斗”,在安都地区称其为“定棋”。下面就略谈卫藏地区的王棋。
