简阳县新合多新胜村一组棉农曾明苏,1983年种的棉花没有施用硼肥,部分花蕾象栀子花一样不能开放,随后脱落,不知道是什么原因,1984年采用移栽时每亩用硼肥0.74斤,混合磷肥40斤和干粪510斤,施在窝中作底肥。结果棉苗生长健壮,从初花期到盛花期只见部分有虫花蕾不能开花,其余的花蕾都能正常开花、结桃,获得了棉花高产。实种棉花1.35亩,共用硼肥1斤,总产皮棉255.1斤,平均亩产皮棉188.9斤。同组棉农谭先均种棉花1.3亩;没有施用硼肥,大约有15％的花蕾皮缩不能开花,平均亩产皮棉126.2斤。每亩比曾明苏少收皮棉62.7斤,现金100多元。
