早在鸦片战争前，英国鸦片商人极力向中国倾销鸦片，不仅掠夺了大量的白银，而且更为严重的是，致使国人吸毒者与日俱增，造成国弱民穷的局面。对此，有识之士大声疾呼在全国各地掀起禁烟运动。爱国的满族知识分子参加禁烟运动的行列，执笔写了满文剧本《烟鬼叹》，流传至今。现在，我们发表评析满文剧本《烟鬼叹》的文章，对当前社会上存在的“瘾君子”起到警示作用，具有重要的现实意义。作者把吸食鸦片有关的满语词汇解决了，通顺流畅地完成这一满文剧本的写作，这对我们了解清中叶以后的满语词法与名法，提供了罕见的资料，有一定的研究价值。
