赛珍珠是第一位被授予诺贝尔文学奖的美国女作家,而她的代表作是异国他乡的题材。《女神的容忍》是赛珍珠1972年的作品,描述了一个女人与三个男人之间发生的故事。本文拟从萨特的存在主义视角分析女主人公Edith的存在状态与精神诉求,对人物行为和性格进行新视角下的思考,在死亡,爱情,自由,永恒的主题中找寻现代人的本质,体验我们的选择与责任。
Pearl S. Buck was the first American woman writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, and her masterpiece is the subject of a foreign country. “The Goddess of Tolerance” is Pearl’s 1972 work, which depicts the story of a woman and three men. This paper attempts to analyze the existence and spiritual demands of the heroine Edith from the perspective of existentialism of Sartre, to make a new perspective on the behavior and character of characters, to find out the essence and experience of the modern man in the themes of death, love, freedom and eternity Our choice and responsibility.
