“舒咏平”这个名字,我一开始是在报纸上看到的。那是在1992年的春天,正是小平同志南巡讲话发表后不久,芜湖——安徽省的沿江开放城市与全国一样,正在酝酿烘造新一轮的改革开放大潮。一天,《芜湖日报》在头版头条发表了一封建议信,信曰: ……在现实中,芜湖人的创造热能不仅未能迸发出来,而且在素质、观念上还存在诸多与改革开放形势严重不适应的弊端。如:芜湖人精于做生意,但气魄不大;善于个人生活,但对公益事业热心不够;处事机巧敏锐,但艰苦创业性欠足;易于踌躇自满,历史的危机感、紧迫感缺乏;……芜湖人的这些秉性特点,是以往小生产的产物,与芜湖的重点开放城市的地位、与芜湖的现代化步
