荆条叶为马鞭科植物荆条Vitexnegundo L.var.heterophylla(Franch.)Rehd.的叶经水蒸汽蒸馏而得的挥发油。具有祛痰、镇咳、平喘作用,用于慢性支气管炎。近年来经过临床观察,起效时间较快,疗效较好。根据北京中药四厂的一份临床疗效分析,有效率平均为96.86%,显效率平均为70.75%。中草药中挥发性油类和挥发性固体在临床上应用很广,但由于容易挥发,不能保质保量,气味浓重不受患者迎欢。北京中医研究院中药研究所于一九七五年十月编印的《复凝聚法微型包囊资料专辑》中报导了“微型胶囊”这一新剂型的有关工艺。
