The result of NDT is the basis for safety assessment. If there is a missed inspection or misjudgment in the NDT, the conclusion of the safety assessment is incorrect. I have performed dozens of in-service pressure vessels for non-destructive testing and found that transverse cracks are hard to find on X-ray films. The ultrasonic flaw detection, only very careful detection can be found. For this reason, this article will discuss how to choose the value of K and the radiation angle θ when in-service pressure vessel radiography to better detect transverse cracks and ensure the safe operation of in-service pressure vessels.
