Various approaches have been taken to help pilots maintain space orientation in flight. Situational awareness is the pilot’s ability to orient himself or herself and the aircraft in addition to knowing the weather, the flight phase and other aircraft and is the key to the pilot making the best decisions. In single-seat and multi-seat aircraft, it is based on a common understanding of situational awareness. Key researchers will present techniques that are now used to measure pilots’ ability to operate in phases of flight, which may be negative for situational awareness
