狮子王球(Notocactus submammulosus),仙人掌科南国玉属植物,原产南美乌拉圭、阿根廷草原地带。它蕾花俱美,栽培繁殖容易,好繁殖好越冬,适应我国大部分地区气候,在一般家庭中栽培易开花,是一种很理想的掌类盆栽佳品。同属中常见栽培的有黄翁、小町、雪光等。狮子王球植株单生,嫁接球偶尔蘖生仔球。扁球形或圆球形,深绿色。用健壮仙人球嫁接的球径可达16厘米。球体具13～15条疣状突出的棱;周刺6～7枚,向四周辐射;中刺2枚,刺淡黄,刺端和刺基部红褐色。春夏顶生漏斗状花,花径4～6厘米,黄色,花心红色(见彩页)。浆
